Kimono Kaban

*SOLD*
Handmade tiny clutch bags made with Japanese fabric as earrings? It's Kaban (Japanese for 'bag') Kawaii!
I have two variations. Pick the design you like.

Tweet Tweet

"Tweet, tweet," no it's not the Twitter bird, but two little robins chirping merrily for you to take them home. This pair of earrings is made with metallic bird charms, pink acrylic seed beads and deep pink faceted teardrop.

Rock-a-Bye Birdie

*SOLD*
A cute little robin perched daintily on a bird stand embelished with blue daimante and faux pearl. A candy-coloured glass drop brightens up the entire picture.

One Flew Off the Roost

*SOLD*
Once upon a time, there were two little birdies who each laid some eggs. One of them was a homemaker who kept vigil in the roost, and waited for baby birdies to hatch in her white-ribboned nest. The other little birdie was a jet-setter and couldn't sit around all day. So she put her tiny eggs in a basket and flew off with babies to explore the world. Which little birdie are you like?

Chandelier in the Sun

*SOLD*
Made with an assortment of acrylic and glass beads, this is my take on the popular chandelier style of earrings. The blue elements reflect the colours of the vast sky on a clear blue day while the yellow teardrop represents the warm glows of the sun. Quite a cheerful, sunny picture, don't you think?

Imperial

If you've watched Peking opera, you'd recognise ancient Chinese imperial headdress as headache-inducing helmet-like things that are elaborately decorated with gold filigree, motifs and tassles. But if I recall correctly from watching Hong Kong TVB period dramas, there was also one type of headdress worn by emperors from the Han Dynasty that went easy on the details (I found this photo on Wikipedia).

It looks like a graduation mortar board perched on top the emperor's top knot and had a curtain of beaded tassled dangling at the back and front. This latest earring design of mine is an updated take of that headdress, created with a lattice of faux and real crystal beads individually hooked together and red glass pearls.

Wagashi

Of yokan (Japanese bean-jam jelly), mochi (glutinous rice cakes) and manju (steamed cakes); of flavours like azuki red bean, matcha and yuzu - traditional Japanese sweets, called wagashi, are not only delicacies but an exquisite culinary artform.

For those who like sugar, spice and all things nice, the striped glass beads used in this pair of earrings might just be mistaken as sweet little Japanese fruit drops! Don't be tempted to pop them in your mouth!

Okinawa Colours

Okinawa is like the Hawaii of Japan. Subtropical climate, vibrant culture, goya (Japanese bittergourd) dishes, the protected Iriomote wildcats, folk music played on the sanshin (a three-stringed instrument) - these and more make this prefecture at the southernmost tip of Japan such a unique destination.
If mainland Japan conjures up soothing, pastel or woody hues, then Okinawa, in contrast, will be a riot of bright, bold colours, characterised by the magnificent Shuri Castle and the prefecture's symbolic Deigo flower.
Dream of the colours of Okinawa in this pair of earrings, made with blue and red glass bluebells and faceted acrylic cubes.

Mango Lassi

Singaporeans love their durians (ok, not all) but have you seen people go ga-ga over mangoes? I was at Bugis Junction recently and chanced upon a long queue at a supermarket atrium fair, where everyone was paying for HUGE Taiwan Mangoes! When we found out it was because they were being sold at a ridiculous price of $2 each, we just had to join the crowd to buy some.

The mangoes were as big as rugby balls, really heavy and really meaty. I still have a bowlful sitting in the fridge. Maybe I'll make some Mango Lassi with it.

Recipe for mango lassi: Blend plain yoghurt, milk, mango pulp and sugar together for a rich, fruity drink (according to Jamie Oliver).

Recipe mango lassi earrings: Take some yoghurt-coloured coral squares and hook them with yellow mango-shaped glass beads. Viola!

Strawberry Milk Shake

*SOLD*
I stumbled upon this pair of red and white stones at a shop selling all kinds of fancy Indian glass beads and just had to have them. I practically rummaged through an entire box just to find two matching ones - there were almost none! Matched with quirky charms and Swarovski rondelles, they become the centrepiece of this earring design that's as sweet as strawberry milk shake!
:: $10.00 per pair  *SOLD*

Final Violin Fantasy

*SOLD*
I'm naming this creation "Final Violin Fantasy" only because it makes use of the final two pieces of violin charms in my stash. I must say these little violins have been really versatile and given me inspriration for many previous designs that I've sold at my hot box at Totally Hot Stuff. But lest I appear to be strumming the same tune over and over again, you can be sure this pair will be the last... in a long time to come. :P
Add a little rock chic attitude to your wardrobe!
:: $10.00 per pair. *Sold*

Candy House

These striped acrylic beads just remind me of the kind of exquisite candy drops you'd find in a gourmet confectionary shop. Sweets for adults, basically. So to give these earrings a sophisticated touch, the blue-and-yellow-striped baubles are paired with elegant faceted teardrops and acrylic ice cubes. An asymetrical arrangement gives it a sweet endnote!

Midori Grape

Nothing too OTT, elegant and totally feminine, this pair of long drop earrings in midori (みどり, 緑, green) hues is inspired by rolling valleys filled with grape vines. Made with acrylic faceted teardrop beads, jade green coral chips and round glass beads.

The recently ended Season 9 of American Idol saw contestants piling on the danglies. I was lukewarm to the vocal "prowess" on display but couldn't help fixing my eyes on the loud feather earrings that kept appearing. Hence my inspiration for this new pair of dangling earrings (above left).  Whimsical, quirky and sheer fun! Check out those blue opal dolphin charms - for an extra retro touch too!
:: S$15.00 *Sold*

World Cup kicks off tomorrow (11 June 2010), and it's set to ignite more feverish passions than the Great Singapore Sale! This pair of beaded earrings (above right) may not exactly remind you of the Beautiful Game but its ethnic design is a celebration of colourful African crafts. Why after all, isn't the World Cup held in South Africa this year? Play on!
:: S$12.00
